uplifting occasion, held on Saturday, 4 January 2025, at 9:00 AM in the majestic Shrine
Basilica of Our Lady of Dolours, Trissur. The ordination was conferred by His Grace Mar
Andrews Thazhath, the Metropolitan Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Trissur.
The solemn liturgy, enriched by traditional Syro-Malabar rites and fervent prayers, reflected
the sanctity and depth of the priestly calling. Fr. Sumesh, a qualified medical and Ayurvedic
doctor, brings his unique background and expertise to his vocation as a Camillian priest,
embodying the charism of St. Camillus to serve the sick and suffering with compassion.
The celebration was graced by the presence of Fr. Bijoy, the Provincial of St. Camillus
Province, India, and Fr. Baby, a General Consulta of the Camillian Order, alongside a large
number of Camillian priests, religious, and faithful.
In his homily, His Grace Mar Andrews Thazhath reflected on the profound responsibility of a
priest to emulate Christ, the divine healer, and to be a servant to all, especially the sick and
marginalized.
Following the ordination, Fr. Sumesh celebrated his First Holy Qurbana, a moving moment of
thanksgiving and dedication to God. The congregation joined in prayer, offering their support
and blessings for Fr. Sumesh's future ministry. The ordination of Fr. Sumesh
Kuruthukulangara MI was a testament to God’s abundant grace and a celebration of his
commitment to serving God and humanity through his unique gifts and the Camillian
