Report on the Diaconate Ordination of Bro. Prakash Nayak, MI
17th June 2025
On 17th June 2025, the Camillian family was blessed with a moment of grace and joy as
Bro. Prakash Nayak, MI was ordained to the Order of Diaconate at Oriens
Theological College, Shillong. The solemn Eucharistic celebration began at 8:45 a.m.
and was presided over by Most Rev. Walder Joachim, Auxiliary Bishop of Aizawl,
who conferred the sacred order.
The celebration was marked by deep devotion and prayerful participation. In his homily,
the bishop highlighted the essence of the diaconate—a ministry of service, humility,
and love in imitation of Christ the Servant. He encouraged Bro. Prakash to be a
faithful witness of the Gospel, especially in caring for the sick and the needy, following
the charism of St. Camillus de Lellis.
The liturgy was enriched with meaningful hymns, scriptural readings, and rituals of
ordination, reminding the faithful of the beauty of consecrated service in the Church. The
presence of Camillian Fathers, religious, seminarians, and faithful added to the solemnity
of the occasion.
At the end of the celebration, Bro. Prakash expressed his heartfelt gratitude to God
Almighty for the gift of vocation, to the Camillian superiors and formators for their
guidance, to his family for their sacrifices, and to all present for their prayers and support.
The day was indeed a milestone in the life of Bro. Prakash Nayak and a moment of
blessing for the Camillian Province in India. As he takes this important step toward
priesthood, the community continues to uphold him in prayers, entrusting his ministry to
the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the maternal intercession of Mary.
