St.Camillus Seminary

St. Camillus Minor Seminary is a house of formation for the students in their Initial Formational Journey, where Vocation Promotion is also given prime importance. Candidates are given the initial spiritual Orientation and Camillian Formation so as to enable them to discern God’s plan. In the academic year, we have both the batches (Plus One and Plus Two) and the first years from Kerala, having Orientation Program.

Our community activities:

• Regular Liturgy and Community prayers
• Regular Classes for all three batches separately with skilled professors
• Regular manual works and games
• Participation in activities common among seminaries [7 in the Diocese] to seminarians like seminary meet and other friendly visits and matches
• Monthly Recollection in the community
• Prayer Days for the Members/Conferrers/Regents
• Monthly Recollection of the local church in the Forane (At least one member from the community tries to attend without fail)
• Regular confession (for candidates and community members)
• Involvement in spiritual ministries that are present in the Diocese (Retreat, Recollection, administration of Sacraments [in Government Hospital & Confession for those who Request], Counseling & other pastoral [Chaplaincy] activities)
• Counseling and pastoral care at St. Martin’s Hospital, Ambalavayal
• Initial Retreat for I year Candidates and Annual retreats for Senior Candidates
• Spiritual direction by eminent priests
• Community meeting and General gathering with staff and Students
• Parents Meeting- ‘Sneha Sangamam’
• Home Day Celebrations- ‘Wings of Love’
• Regular Novena in honor of St. Camillus and Our Lady of Perpetual Help
• ‘Saakshyam’- a day with Laity and other religious in the year of Consecrated People
Vocation Promotion
The community has a Vocation Promoter for Kerala Zone and also doing the coordination of the national vocation promotion. Rev. Fr. Jomin was the incharge and now Rev. Fr. Bobit is the in charge of Vocation Promotion. It is one of the important ministries that the community is entrusted with. We are thankful to God for bringing vocations to our seminary in this academic year [47]. We are thankful to all those praying for vocations [We have Vocation Rosary for the new vocations to our Order and to the Church] and all other support extended to us in this regard.
Vocation promotion is realized through:
• Regular prayers and offering Holy Mass
• Through close collaboration with neighboring parishes and by helping in the parish activities
• Cooperate with local parish church
• Contacting our friends and well wishers
• Through the candidates already in the seminary
• Ministry

Ministry Activities of the Community
• Counseling, Pastoral and Spiritual care of the Sick in St. Camillus Hospital, Chungakkunnu
(Fridays/ on call in emergency)
• Visit to persons with terminal/long-term illness in their homes in the neighboring villages
• Government Hospital Ministry (on call and on every sundays)
• Preaching the Word & being available for Retreats and Recollections and other classes
• The community is also opened a Regional Office of CTF [Camillian Task Force] in Mananthavady and is reaching out to needy [through the office, we have already reached out to help four families in building houses and participated in two major Operations of CTF [Nepal & Chennai]. We made available good number of volunteers for the projects through the regional office.
• The community is also looking at the possibility of helping some poor families through Save A Family project/CTF.
• The community is also engaged in the administration of Sacramental and corporal needs of the patients in Government Hospital and in any other Hospital as per the request of the Hospital.
• The community is also available for the sacramental assistance to three Retreat centers that are within the Diocese.
• The community is also available for the pastoral needs in Vincent Giri Hospital
• The community is also having a small educational fund for poor children, which we began in the eternal memory of Rev. Fr. Shibin Arpathanathu MI
• The community is engaged in the pastoral and counseling Ministry at St. Martin’s Hospital, Ambalavayal.
• The community is also available for the sacramental needs of an orphanage [St. Joseph’s Orphanage, Kaniyaram]
• The community is also available for the spiritual guidance for the Postulants of FCC convent, Kallody
• The community is also available through one of its member, to counsel the CRI- South Zone, Wayanad as Executive member
• The community is also available for the counseling and spiritual guidance for both lay and religious people
• The community also is available through Peniel Prayer House, for the Retreats and other spiritual get together
